Ten Plano Art Association members will gather in the Interurban Railway Museum from 1:30 PM to 5 PM on Saturday, April 28 to paint and draw a live model. The artists are all experienced portrait and figurative artists who meet regularly to practice and refine their skills. They use a variety of mediums, from watercolor, to oil, to pastel and charcoal. During the afternoon, they will essentially complete a painting of the subject. They will also have some of their work on display at the location.
The Plano Lodge No. 768 North Texas Masonic Historical Museum and Library will be open during Saturday of Plano Artiest from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Members of the Lodge and the Museum & Library will be in attendance to host the event, assist those who may desire to take personal photographs and address questions regarding Freemasonry, Plano Lodge and our Plano Texas relationship. Artwork will by Fred Smith of Fred Smith Studio will be on display.
Carter Blood Bank will also be conducting a Blood Drive at the Lodge's front door.
Pipe & Palette Home Outfitters and Mixed Media Art Classes will host a Make & Take station on both Friday and Saturday of the festival.
There will be $15 paint and seal acrylic pottery, $12 jewelry making, $5 wood paintings, and $5 photo transfers.
Five resident studio artists at Rail Station Studios will be demonstrating their art processes during ArtFest. The artists are Gene Dillard (portrait demo from live model), Linda McCarley, (encaustic), Don Dillard (watercolor landscapes), Barb Keilson (pet portraiture), and Ginger Cruickshank (colorful expressionism).
Additionally, there will be exhibits on display of new works created by the artists. Drawings for door prizes will be held throughout the event.
The exhibits will begin Saturday evening at 5 p.m., while the demonstrations will take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Celebrating Asian American Heritage Foundation (CAAHF) and the Dallas Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association (DCCPA) are hosting the 2017 Plano Asian Art Exhibition as part of the 14th Annual AsiaFest. The Asian Art Exhibition will be held at the Courtyard Theater from April 10 to May 15, open Monday-Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. The opening reception for the exhibition will be held on April 13, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Courtyard Theater.
Approximately 40 artworks of Chinese calligraphy, Chinese brush painting, oil painting, engraving or wood block art, watercolor painting, illustration art, designs, and other genres will be on display. Besides works of artists from the DCCPA, there will be works from the North Texas Asian Photographers’ Association (NTAPA) and other artists with diverse backgrounds.Join us in celebrating Asian Art!
